The Italian Job (2003) Title sequence evaluatin

Today, we looked at the opening title sequence of the film 'The Italian Job'. The first thing we see in the sequenec is the production company "Paramount".


The title sequence contains no dialog and only two shots of a charcter, belived to be the main character.The sound efects and music within the title sequence is mysterious and that links in well with the theme of the film. The cuts used in the sequence match the beats of the music.

During all of the multiple clips of a map in this sequence, at no point the whole screen filled, it is mostly just a small section of the screen with the video in it, whilst the rest of the screen is black, this increases the scence of mysteriousness.

The title sequence in 'The Italian job' is very good at gaining the atention of the audience.

Horror film reserch

People like to watch horror films for the same reson that children like to watch, for instance to warn of evil in familiar places. Poeple like the adrenaline rush that happens while watching a horror movie. It is for the same reason people like roller coaster rides Horror films are designed to elicit strong emotional reactions from viewers, including fear and dread. The reason why it is so important to know your target audience is because it will help when deciding what content is to be included. 48% of horror film consumers are aged between 18 - 24. Horror film produces will tend to aim there film at this age range, because of this horror films gerneraly create less revenue and profit then other films.

This is my finished short film that we created to show our understanding of the 180 degree rule, action match and shot reverse shot. Unfortunately the intro of the video was cut out by 'Movie maker'. The first shot was also made longer for an unknown reson.

From this task, I learned how to edit video and sound, add in fade to blacks and input titles using Adobe Premiere Pro.
